The all-new Swedish crime thriller Inspector Norse from the Lip Service Theatre Company is coming to Blackpool’s Grand Theatre on 15th October 2012. It promises to be a night of nerve-jangling suspense, laughter…and a partially knitted set that hopefully you can contribute to!
Knittaz with Attitude (of town centre yarn bombing fame) will be hosting knitting workshops where you can make all the various parts.
- Wool and needles/hooks/french knitting bobbins to those who need them
- Guidance for beginners learning to knitting and crochet
- Light refreshments
It all takes place in the wonderful setting of the Grand Theatre Studio on the following dates:
- Monday 17th September. We’re starting at 6:30pm so that we can have a little tour of the theatre before we get on to our wool-fest at 7pm.
- Wednesday 26th September, 7pm
- Saturday 6th October, 2pm, this will include a Scandinavian tea party, so don’t forget to wear your woolly jumper and bobble hat!
So sign up online on Facebook or email us
The project is funded by the Arts Council via Blackpool Council Arts Service

On the 19th and 20th June, we took a trip to the LLP (Lifelong Learning Programme) Inclusion conference at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham. As a result of our Youth in Action project Pop Goes The Workshop, we had been invited to exhibit by the YIA coordinators at the British Council. We jumped at the chance as this was an opportunity to find out about other learning and skills-sharing opportunities, see what other organisations across Europe were doing and say thank you to Youth in Action/British Council for taking a chance on a rather bizarre project!
We learned about so many fantastic projects and met lots of lovely people who have given us plenty of ideas including some possible trans-national projects… squee!
We <3 Grundtvig!
We came back to Blackpool, buzzing with ideas and with a notebook full of contacts, good job!
P.S. if there was a prize for stall that looks most like a craft fair, we would have won, hands down!
On Saturday 10th March, Aunty hosted a yarnbombing workshop for young women (age 13-16 years) from a variety of youth groups from Wyre. Activities included dance and various arts and crafts activities and took place at Fleetwood YMCA …Young (wo)man, there’s no need to feel down, la la la.
Participants learned how to get crafty and stitch together a variety of woolly loveliness to create a flower garden outside the entrance to Tommy’s the local youth club. All in all, it was a lovely day, we had some great positive feedback from the groups and created a woolly wilderness to boot, fabulous!
We’re looking for artists and makers to run art and craft classes from our community craft workshop… Interested?
We have a community craft workshop in central Blackpool and plan to run a variety of sewing/craft sessions from there. We want local artists and makers to help us make use of the workshop by facilitating a range of classes.
If this sounds like something that you would be interested in, complete the Expression of Interest form and email it to us by Friday 30th March 2012. We will contact you during the week commencing 9th April 2012.
