His photography deals with themes such as the effects of deindustrialization\, working cla ss culture and social life within British post-industrial communities. Dra wn to subjects that echo his experiences growing up in a former Coal Minin g town in the East Midlands\, David’s photographs seek to capture a sens e of place shaped by his memories and cultural background.\n\nIn this talk \, David will delve into his photographic practice and the experiences tha t have inspired his work. He will present photographs from his ongoing pro ject Workers’ Playtime\, which explores the significance of performance and creativity among working class people. Alongside David’s contemporar y images\, he will also showcase historic photographs of Blackpool\, highl ighting the town’s significant role in the history of photography and it s connection to the themes of work and play central to his work.\n\nPhotog raphy Social speakers are supported by the Blackpool Photography Champion.
