 his photographic and film project focuses on Female established inclusive 
 grassroots Skateboarding communities based in the North\, UK. From mountai
 ns in Lake District to Blackpool promenade. These skate collectives were c
 reated to provide a safe space &amp\; welcoming environment for female &am
 p\; LGBT+ skaters in the area. Over time Juliet worked with the collective
 s sharing cameras and getting them to self shoot to create an archive of i
 mages.\n\nUsing analogue photography and film\, Juliet documents social an
 d environmental stories\, collaborating with local communities to explore 
 identity\, belonging\, and the connection between people and place. Her wo
 rk\, spanning still and motion images\, focuses on youth\, rural tradition
 s\, and community life.\n\nHer short documentary Travelling Home screened 
 at BAFTA and BIFA-qualifying festivals\, including London Film Festival\, 
 in 2024. Juliet won the 2020 Portrait of Britain Award\, was shortlisted f
 or Portrait of Humanity\, and in 2021\, her film Youth of the Rural North 
 was nominated for Best Documentary at the British Film Awards.\n\nJuliet s
 ays:\n\n"Two years ago I started on a research project to try and document
  inclusive grassroots skateboarding communities connecting female\, margin
 alised and LGBTQI+ individuals in the North of England\; driven to bridge 
 the gap in the historical documentation of skateboarding. From the Lake Di
 strict mountains to Blackpool promenade\, these collectives have created s
 afe\, welcoming spaces where skating empowers\, fosters freedom and embrac
 es failure as part of growth"\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n
