World Book Night 2022
Aunty is giving away 80 free copies of Transitions: Our Stories of Being TRANS by Juno Roche, Meg-John Barker, Sabah Choudrey & Various Authors to celebrate World Book Night on Saturday 23 April 2022.
We wanted to be a free book distributor because we love reading and storytelling. A lot of people that have taken part in our projects don’t regularly read for pleasure. Not everyone has access to books, especially people on very low incomes, and especially those who have been shielding over lockdown.
Copies of “Transitions” will be available to people in the Blackpool and Fylde Coast area. We’re also going to donate copies to Blackpool Libraries, so people who miss out on the giveaway can access it through their free lending service.
We hope that World Book Night will inspire more people to read for pleasure, and give people who enjoy reading an opportunity to discover something new.
How do I get a book?
In the first instance, we’re offering the books to people who we know who do not usually read or don’t usually have access to books. We’ve already been in touch with some folks to make sure that they get a copy. As we have first hand experience of not seeing ourselves represented in books, comics, TV or film, we understand how important it is to get these books out to people who may be feeling the same way. We’re making the most of our diverse networks to make sure that these touching books go to people who will really love them.
If you can see the sign up button below, it means that we have some books available to post out to you.
You can still sign up for a book after World Book Night.
We’ll only close the registration form when we run out of copies.
About
the book
Moments of anxiety, rage, joy, beauty – all contained in a small package. These voices are placed carefully beside one another, each fresh and unique. It’s not a long read, yet it’s one of the most impactful books I’ve read for a while.
