Artefact-inspired creative writing – short stories

Join Antonia as we explore using historic artefacts to inspire your creative writing.
In this creative writing workshop, you’ll learn techniques to create your own short stories based on historic artefacts.
Using the techniques that helped her write her short story The Call of the Sea from Lancashire Stories Anthology , writer and journalist Antonia Charlesworth-Stack will guide you through ways to draw inspiration from a variety of objects connected to the Blackpool Heritage Action Zone area.
You will explore newspaper archive cuttings, photographs and objects and learn how to use them to inform your story in a relaxed conversational learning environment.
Please note that you will need to bring a laptop or device to do some research on the objects. We will also have some reference books available for you to use.
In a this three hour workshop, you can expect to create a story or character background based on the artefacts.
When you finish your story (at the session or in your own time) Antonia invites you to share them with her for feedback and editing, and possible publication on arts and culture magazine Blackpoolsocial.club
