Walking, chatting and mapping
Join Artist and Educator Ann Carragher in a mindful walk and workshop, connecting with the Blackpool Heritage Action Zone (HAZ) area.
Take a walk through the town centre and take a fresh look at the Heritage Action Zone in light of its historical and cultural context. Considering notions of a sense of place and belonging, as well as connecting with the area through listening, touch and thoughts. We will record the walk in a variety of ways such as: drawings, writing, photos and memory.
Back in the studio, we will explore commonalities and share our experiences. The experiences and the information gathered will then be used to create an artistic ‘map’ in response to the walk. This can be done individually or collectively.
- This workshop is suitable for age 16+
- We recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.
- Drinks and snacks will be provided. You will need to bring lunch with you.
Tickets £2.50

This activity is part of ‘Handmade High Street’, a series of creative workshops organised by Blackpool Heritage Action Zone (Blackpool HAZ).
Important physical access info: We’re in the process of having a lift installed. Work should be completed by late August 2023.
Please note that this session is in the upstairs workshop space. It’s a single flight of 14 steps, then you go around the corner and there are two small steps. Once you’re upstairs, there’s a loo. You shouldn’t need to come downstairs for anything until the end of the event.
If you can’t manage the stairs but really want to attend, please let us know using the questions that appear when you book your ticket and we will try to move the activity downstairs.
The workshop will take place both out in the HAZ area and also back at the creative workshop space. We will be walking around the town centre.
If you have additional access needs (e.g. large print, BSL interpreter, level access) please let us know by emailing (using the contact organiser button/link) or sending us an SMS text/WhatsApp message on 07957 602790. Please let us know about any additional requirements by Thursday 17 August, so that we have time to make sure your support is in place.
