Plant Based Developer Workshops
Join our experienced Darkroom practitioners on a journey into the world of plant developers for 35mm film.
On Saturday we will meet at the main gates on to Lawsons Field in Marton at 10am. There we will load cameras with the black and white film provided. We will explore the area using our cameras and forage Bramble leaves to start to make the developer.
On Sunday there are two sessions to choose from at the Darkroom to develop the film you have exposed, 10am and 2.30pm. Please book early to ensure you get on to your preferred time. During the session you will finish the preparation of the developer started the day before, develop your film, and leave with your fresh negatives safely stored in a protective sleeve.
The cost of these workshops is just £13, including a 35mm film and all materials needed. Booking is essential to attend, email [email protected]
It is advantageous, although not essential, to have prior film developing experience. We do have some film cameras available for use during the walk if required.
The walk will be taking place whatever the weather, so please prepare accordingly and hope the umbrellas are not needed!

Important physical access info:
Please note that this session is upstairs. We are in the process of installing a lift, however due to unforeseen delays this is now due to be completed later in the year. The event space is up a single flight of 14 steps then you go around the corner and there are two small steps. Once you’re upstairs there’s a loo. You shouldn’t need to come downstairs for anything until the end of the activity.

GETTING HERE
- Tram & Train to Blackpool North Station
- Bus:
- No 6 or 18 bus to Topping St.
- No 3, 3a, 5c, 6, 18 to Church St (Stanley Buildings)
- No 5, 5a, 5b, 6, 7a, 14 to Talbot Rd
- Driving: The closest pay and display car parks are on East Topping St and Talbot Road multi storey. There is also parking at the nearby Sainsbury’s supermarket, please make sure that you check the terms before you use the car park.
