Social media can offer your organisation lots of opportunities to reach and engage with wider audiences, whether that’s awareness-raising, problem-solving, recruiting volunteers or getting people involved in discussions on issues that affect them. At first, it can all seem quite daunting. That’s why Aunty Social has set up Connected, so that you find out what all the fuss is about in a friendly, relaxed environment. This first session will provide an
introduction to the world of Social Media, and will look at the three largest Social Networks: Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare.
Date and time: Wednesday 1st June, 6:30pm to 8:30pm

Audience: Representatives of Voluntary, Community and Faith Sector (VCFS) organisations in Blackpool.

Tom Stables is the founder of TomStables Creative: a forward thinking, always ruminative, creative business combining digital, graphic, web and social media design. Tom also lectures for Futures at the University of Central Lancashire, delivering the “Your Online Reputation” module. He is also co-founder of Social Subversion.
Nathaniel Cassidy is best summed up by his Twitter profile bio: “I like: olives, beer, sunglasses, reading, hats, dance music, sticky toffee pudding and being loud.” He runs Duchess ofGrange Events & PR an agency that specialises in utilising interactive PR, social media, experiential marketing and event experiences. Nathaniel is the other half of Social Subversion.
Tom and Nat are experienced communicators and their workshops and courses always have a relaxed and easy going atmosphere. Watch out though as their passion for social media is contagious and next thing you know you’ll be converting the rest of the office,
your friends and family to the social side of the web.

Duncan is a PHP Developer with 4 years experience both working in the public sector and doing freelance development work mainly on websites made with children & young people in mind. He has spent lots of time working on the Plings Project which is about aggregating positive activity information into a national repository and then making it available in many different places on the web, mobile phones and digital television. Duncan also spends some of his free time developing applications with the vast array of Open Data that is now available from both local and national government in an effort to increase transparency. As well as this Duncan is a Twitter fanatic and has experience in
the use of social networking to engage communities and young people.

Socialising, Networking & One to One Advice
This is where you get the chance to mingle with other attendees and get advice from our ‘Social Media Surgeons’ on issues/queries that affect you. We have free WIFI, so you can bring your laptop, smartphone etc. along and get some ‘hands-on’ advice.
