You will leave with your own-made jar of Kimchi and the knowledge and skills to ferment at home.

Who?

This workshop is open to all but perfect for absolute beginners.

Due to the use of cutting equipment you will need to be 18 years old or over to attend.

What?

Your workshop will begin with a brief outline of fermentation, familiarising you with the process and how kimchi is made. Then a hands-on guide through the process leaving you with the skills to recreate this delicious dish at home.

You will be provided with space, tools and ingredients all needed for the preparation of making kimchi and finish the workshop with your own-made jar of kimchi and the knowledge and skills to start you on your food fermentation journey.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need previous experience?
No, this is a beginners activity. We will work as though this is everyone’s first time. If you do have some experience, you are more than welcome to attend, but we ask you to be patient with the group members who are new to it.

Can I take home what I make?
Yes, you will be take home your fermenting kimchi in a suitable container provided on the day.

How much does it cost to attend?
This session is free. It has been supported by Blackpool Council to help with the rising Cost of Living. If you book tickets and are no longer able to attend, please let us know as we think that this session will be very popular.

Is there a suggested age for this workshop?
This session is suitable for people over 18 years of age.

What time do I need to arrive?
Please arrive 5-10mins before the session start time.

These sessions are in our upstairs workshop space. There is currently no level access. It’s a single flight of 14 steps then you go around the corner and there are two small steps. Once you’re upstairs there’s a loo. You shouldn’t need to come downstairs for anything until the end of the event.

If you can’t manage the stairs but really want to attend, please let us know by the end of February by emailing (using the contact organiser button/link) or sending us an SMS text/WhatsApp message on 07957 602790 and will try our best to accommodate.

Getting here

  • Tram to North Pier
  • Bus: No 3,4 or 6 bus to Topping St. No 2, 2C, 3, 7, 7, 11, 14, 17, 18 or 20 to Church St (Stanley Buildings)
  • Driving: The closest pay and display car parks are on East Topping St and Talbot Road multi storey. There is also 3 hours free parking at the nearby Sainsbury’s supermarket, please make sure that you check the terms before you use the car park.
