May Photo Walk
After capturing the early signs of spring during March in the winding paths of Salisbury Woodland, we invite you to trade the trees for the reeds, on the May photo walk at Marton Mere Local Nature Reserve (SSSI)
We are heading to one of Blackpool’s most vital wildlife havens. This Site of Special Scientific Interest offers a completely different landscape to explore, from expansive open water and dense reedbeds to the architectural silhouettes of the bird hides and the distant form of Blackpool Tower. As well as the bird population, Marton Mere is home to dragonflies, butterflies, bats and orchids.
- The Walk: We’ll take a relaxed stroll around the mere, focusing on the textures of the wetland, the movement of the local birdlife, and the May light over the water.
- Support: Our Darkroom practitioners will be on hand, happy to offer tips on framing, exposure, and getting the most out of your camera – whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out.
- Social: As always, we’ll finish the session with a brew and a chat, for those that want one, to share what we’ve seen and discuss all things photography.
We will meet by the entrance of The Village Hotel for 11am returning by approximately 1pm.
We have three ticket types available,
· £4 – Bring your own camera & equipment
· £8 – Bring your own camera, film provided
· £8 – Borrow a film camera (film included)
Note: Paths can be muddy and uneven; please wear appropriate footwear.
Event is suitable for those 12+. Under 16’s must be accompanied by a parent/guardian
