From Tina
As an artist my work is mainly portraiture and is very influenced by the African traditional murals on health campaigns and the artwork found in African barbershops and hair salons. my style is influenced by the great artist Cheri Samba while the feminist approach behind my work is inspired by the work of the surrealist Mexican artist Frida Khalo.
I paint only black women because with my work I am trying to reflect in a powerful statement, their straight by capturing the essence of their fearless spirit. Regarding my workshops and classes, which are mainly portrait and focus on racial justice and integration. The idea is to bring a positive sense of empowerment and inspire people from minority background. I believe it is time to normalise the image and culture of black people and people of colour as creative subjects, to diversify the creative content in the UK art scene and create opportunities for black artists and artists of colour whose stories are sometimes overlooked.
