Join Joe for a relaxed sewing workshop where we’ll make a snake-style draught excluder using basic sewing machine techniques.
Stop those draughts and make your own custom draught excluder whilst learning basic machine sewing skills.
This workshop will guide you through the process, using both hand and machine sewing to create your own bespoke draught excluder for your door or a window, to help keep your home warm.
The workshop is suitable for people of all abilities and skill levels, so newbies are welcome and is an excellent project to start learning to sew. Ideal for beginners, and those wanting to improve their sewing machine skills.
All materials and equipment will be provided – although you are welcome to bring along your own fabric to use.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to know how to sew?
This activity is best suited to those who can sew a straight line on a sewing machine. If you don’t have any sewing machine experience, you are more than welcome to attend, we’ll help you get started on a pre-threaded machine.
Can I take home what I make?
Yes, you will be able to take your draught excluder home with you.
How much does it cost to attend?
This session is free. It has been supported by Blackpool Council to help with the rising Cost of Living. If you book tickets and are no longer able to attend, please let us know as we think that this session will be very popular.
Is there a suggested age for this workshop?
This session is suitable for people over 12 years of age. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult chaperone. If the chaperone would like to take part in the activity, they need to book their own ticket to make sure that we have enough supplies and equipment.
What time do I need to arrive?
Please arrive 5-10mins before the session start time.

- Tram to North Pier
- Bus: No 3,4 or 6 bus to Topping St. No 2, 2C, 3, 7, 7, 11, 14, 17, 18 or 20 to Church St (Stanley Buildings)
- Driving: The closest pay and display car parks are on East Topping St and Talbot Road multi storey. There is also parking at the nearby Sainsbury’s supermarket, please make sure that you check the terms before you use the car park.
