OPEN CALL for Images

The Shared Story of Us – Defeating Narratives of Division

DEADLINE Monday 1st September 2025

Submissions are open for images to be included in an educational booklet to accompany our upcoming Defeating Narratives of Division training sessions run in conjunction with the Ella Baker School of Organising. 

The booklet will be used as a resource in training sessions and made available to participants in print (under 500 copies), and as an online PDF. It will not be sold commercially.

We welcome contributions from artists and creatives of all backgrounds and all experience levels who live in an FY postcode area.

Contributors will be paid for their work at a flat rate of £30 per image. 
Please note that this isn’t a commission for new work, we’re paying you for the use of existing work.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Please submit no more than four photographs, relevant to the theme. You may include a few sentences about the photographs and how they relate to the theme. Please note that there is a possibility that your photographs will not be selected.

OTHER ART (Collage, painting, drawing, illustration, comics, etc.)

Please submit no more than two pieces of art, relevant to the theme. You may include a few sentences about your art and how it relates to the theme. Please note that there is a possibility that your pieces will not be selected. 

Submission guidelines

The theme for the images is The Shared Story of Us. You can use this as a prompt, or incorporate it in your work as you see fit.

• Please ensure that the image file name includes your own name too
• Each file should be no more than 10MB and no less than 300DPI
• To receive payment, please ensure that you are eligible to work in the UK
