Aunty Social is seeking staff to support our upcoming BFI-supported Film Club.
This summer, we’re bringing back our film club that will support 15 budding filmmakers aged 12-15 yrs. They’ll learn how films are made and try out lots of different skills including scriptwriting, model-making, filming on location, cinematography and video editing. Their final film will be shown at a big showcase event for friends and family.
We’re recruiting the following roles:
Film Club Assistant (x 2)
- Expected time commitment:
- 6 x full day (7.5 hour) sessions
- A showcase event (4 hours)
- 10 hours preparation and feedback time
- Pay
- £10.90 per hour
- Total 59 hours
- PAYE
- Paid monthly
- Location
- Aunty Social, 28 Topping Street, Blackpool
- Showcase Venue TBC
Duties
- The Film Club Assistant will support the lead delivery staff and guest speakers from the film industry.
- Sessions will be based on the international Cinema Education Programme’s Places and Stories curriculum. The sessions will focus on:
- Film theory/ watching film
- Filmmaking
- Industry and careers
- The Film Club Assistant is expected to attend all of the activity days
- This is an ideal role for someone starting out in the arts or film, especially suited to those with a background or interest in cinema and filmmaking.
Film Club Coordinator
- Expected time commitment:
- 2 days per week (15 hours – this can be split into 2 half days per week)
- 7 weeks, between 10 July 2023 and 25 August 2023
- Includes 30 min lunch break
- Pay
- £13.50 per hour
- PAYE
- Paid monthly
- Location
- Working from home and Aunty Social, 28 Topping St, Blackpool
- Some meetings/sessions in central Blackpool. The Coordinator is not expected to attend the activity days.
Duties
Day-to-day coordination of Film Club, including corresponding with participants
- Supporting the session delivery staff with general session coordination and admin
- Promoting film club activity online
- Liaising with venues, industry guests, staff and participants
- Maintain record keeping and administration systems and ensure data is available to report to funders
- Manages own workload with guidance from Aunty Social director
This is an ideal role for someone starting out in arts administration, it is especially suited to those who would like to lead or plan community art projects in the future.
Film Club Session Leader
- Expected time commitment:
- 6 x full day (7.5 hour) sessions
- A showcase event (4 hours)
- 10 hours preparation and feedback time
- Pay
- £17 per hour
- Total 59 hours
- PAYE
- Paid monthly
- Location
- Aunty Social, 28 Topping Street, Blackpool
- Showcase Venue TBC
Duties
- The Film Club Session Leader will develop and deliver the taught element of the Film Club programme.
- Sessions will be based on the international Cinema Education Programme’s Places and Stories curriculum. The sessions will focus on:
- Film theory/ watching film
- Filmmaking
- Industry and careers
- The Film Club Session Leader is expected to attend all of the activity days
- This is an ideal role for someone with experience of teaching in the arts or film, and is especially suited to those with a background or interest in cinema and filmmaking.
